Buick’s Advanced driver-assistance features help keep drivers assured

Life sometimes throws a curveball or two throughout the day, so it’s reassuring to have vehicle features that offer a feeling of security and added peace of mind while on the road.

Buick's advanced safety and driver-assistance features, which can alert a driver of nearby detected vehicles and objects, play an important role in the vehicle ownership experience.

Many of these features are found on several models across the Buick lineup and enlist a series of sensors, cameras and radar equipment to provide visual, audio and haptic cues to alert drivers to potential hazards.

To show the benefits of these features, we’ve highlighted four possible scenarios that show how Buick’s models could handle them with confidence.

Brunch in the City

Meeting friends for brunch is the highlight of the week, and the Buick Envista is the perfect vehicle to navigate the downtown area. It looks like everyone had the same idea because there’s traffic everywhere.

Fortunately, Envista is equipped with standard Forward Collision Alert,* which uses a front-mounted camera to monitor vehicles the driver is following in forward gear. Visible icons and audible alerts will let the driver know if a vehicle is detected ahead (green icon), they’re following much too closely (amber icon), or they are seconds away from a potential crash (red icon and eight beeps).

The feature can work in conjunction with Automatic Emergency Braking,* which uses the same camera technology at speeds of 5 to 50 mph to help avoid or reduce the severity of a collision with a detected  vehicle ahead by automatically providing hard emergency braking or enhancing the driver’s hard braking.

Highway Holiday

Cruising along the highway in an Enclave on the way to the cottage, there's a sunny view from behind the wheel as multiple vehicles speed up and slow down trying to match the flow of traffic.

Adaptive Cruise Control,* standard on the 2025 Enclave, really helps out here, by enhancing regular Cruise Control and automatically following a vehicle detected ahead at a following gap that the driver set on the Gap Setting button on the steering wheel to maintain a safe distance.

And, standard on the 2025 Enclave, a Traffic Sign Recognition* feature displays detected speed limits on the instrument cluster using the vehicle’s front camera and navigation system. This feature can also be set to notify the driver when the vehicle has exceeded the posted speed limit or when the speed limit has changed. An active, eligible OnStar® plan* is required.

Night on the Town

There’s nothing like attending a great concert with friends. With its space and amenities, the Encore GX can easily handle the night's transportation — and everyone's glad it has standard IntelliBeam – auto high beams and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.*

Even when unexpected weather, such as a huge downpour, ascends upon leaving the venue, IntelliBeam – auto high beams cut a swath of light through the darkness to better see what's out there.

IntelliBeam activates at speeds more than 25 mph, depending on surrounding traffic, in areas of low or no lighting. If the system detects approaching headlamps or another vehicle’s taillamps, it reverts to low beams.

The rain can also make it hard to see the road markings, but Lane Keep Assist* is designed to correct an unintentional departure out of a lane. With a camera mounted in front of the inside rearview mirror, it warns the driver with an amber icon in the Driver Information Center, then nudges them back into place with a slight steering-wheel adjustment.

If that doesn’t level-set the driver, then the Lane Departure Warning* feature kicks in. An amber icon will flash, followed by three beeps or seat pulses (if equipped with the available Safety Alert Seat) from the
direction of the drift.

Neighborhood Workout

Going to the new gym down the street sounds like an exciting upgrade, with plenty of machines and the latest equipment. But the grand opening has attracted a lot of attention from those looking for a workout as there are numerous people darting in and out of their vehicles in the parking lot.

Maneuvering the Buick Envision through the chaos, a driver will be thankful for Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking,* standard on 2024 Envision. It uses a forward-looking camera to detect nearby moving or standing pedestrians or bicycles within the detection area around the vehicle and, if it detects a potential collision, provides a flashing red windshield alert.

Your elevated experience awaits
